Congdon Drug Store - Bristol, Indiana
There was a drugstore in downtown Bristol over 100 years.

The Congdon Drugstore was like the town meeting place after the Old King Store closed in the early 1970's.

Founded by the Congdon family in the early 1880's, it was a family operation for the next 100 years, ending with Earl Congdon's retirement in 1986, when it became Judd's Drugs. Next it became Revco Drugs, and then CVS in 1997. Residents haven't been pleased with the policy that closed the store at 6pm evenings and all day Sunday, due to a shortage of pharmacists.

Rumors of the store closing had circulated for months, but became reality when CVS announced the Corporate decision to close Bristol's and nearly 200 other low volume stores around the country.

The store closed on January 25, 2002. For the first time in over 100 years, there is no drugstore downtown.
